Stroke Reversaltm
Supporting Documentation

Since October 2025, I've been studying Dimethyl Sulfoxide (DMSO) through more than 100 articles on Substack, mostly from A Midwestern Doctor. He's reviewed thousands of studies, books, abstracts, and real-life stories to summarize what DMSO can do.

My goal is simple: share enough evidence so you understand how DMSO might protect the brain during a stroke - far better than doing nothing or waiting for the standard medical approach, which often arrives too late.

Because the FDA blocked most human DMSO studies for about 30 years, much of the strongest evidence comes from animal experiments that mimic stroke conditions. Many human stories, though, describe near-miraculous recoveries. I'll share some of those below.

The Most Important Article

The best summary is "The Evidence DMSO Could Save Millions From Brain and Spinal Injury" (published September 15, 2024).
→ Read it here: AMWD substack studies

Is DMSO Safe?

To ease concerns about safety:
In 1967, researchers gave prisoners at California State Prison Hospital in Vacaville extremely high doses of DMSO - 3 to 30 times more than typical human treatment levels. The full toxicology report (linked below) reviewed many studies and concluded DMSO is safe and even protective against certain toxicities.

Over the past 60+ years, millions of people have used DMSO. There is not one single death listed on the FDA or CDC websites caused by DMSO use.

→ Special Note: People take DMSO daily with no problems. If you even suspect a stroke has started, applying DMSO won't harm you.

Before I go into the rest of the supporting documents, here is a list of terms most of us are not familiar with and that will make these articles much easier to understand.

Key Medical Terms Made Simple

  • Ischemic: Lack of blood flow (most strokes are this type).
  • Ischemic stroke: A clot blocks a major brain artery - 87% of all strokes.
  • Hemorrhagic stroke: A blood vessel bursts or leaks in the brain.
  • tPA: tissue Plasminogen Activator, clot-dissolving drug approved for ischemic strokes, but only safe within 3 hours - and it can be deadly if there's any bleeding.
  • Thrombosis: Buildup of plaque inside arteries that can block blood flow.
  • MCA: Middle cerebral artery - the main "highway" carrying blood to a large part of the brain.
  • Occlusion: A complete or severe blockage (usually a clot).
  • Perfusion: How well blood (oxygen and nutrients) reaches brain tissue.

Current Stroke Management Treatment

The only approved drug for ischemic strokes is tPA. It must be given within 3 hours of symptoms starting.

Only 1.8% to 8.5% of patients receive it in time. Even then, only about 13% see any real benefit - and full recovery is rare.

DMSO and Ischemic Strokes - Real Stories

A Midwestern Doctor recommends keeping DMSO at home so it can be applied immediately if a stroke happens. Here are a few powerful examples:

  • A Los Angeles school teacher suffered a major stroke over Christmas break. DMSO was applied right away → full recovery. Ischemic Stroke article
  • My favorite: An 80-year-old woman was in a nursing home, 3 months after a massive stroke that left her in a coma. Her husband rubbed DMSO on her head once a day → within 4 months she went home and lived normally. Ischemic Stroke article
  • Kim (@wevebeenfooled on X) shared two live-chat cases where people had strokes and used DMSO immediately → both stopped progressing and recovered well. See post

How DMSO Helps with Clots and Platelets

A PubMed abstract explains:
"DMSO may normalize tissue perfusion (restore blood flow) when it's reduced or blocked. We believe this happens mainly because DMSO affects the prostaglandin-thromboxane system and platelets - the key players in vessel blockage and spasms."
→ Full abstract on thromboxane and platelets: PubMed Abstract

In short: DMSO could quickly improve blood flow, reduce clot damage, and protect brain tissue - potentially saving lives and function when seconds count.

The 2002 study using DMSO with FDP (fructose 1,6-disphosphate) in 11 patients average age 65. 7 of the 11 achieved "improved" or "markedly improved" status.
Nicholas' personal note: the effects of using FDP looks very similar to the use of Organic Coconut Oil (OCO) as a medium chain fatty acid in Alzheimer's patients in studies similar to this study. The key is that DMSO is a carrier, so when combined with FDP or OCO, it will carry it across the blood-brain barrer efficiently delivering fuel to damaged brain cells without any damage to the membrane. We are currently working on a secondary follow on kit to our initial Stroke Reversal Kit designed to help reverse and recover from damage even days, weeks or months after the initial stroke.

Dr. Stanley Jacob MD recognized it's ability to help people in hundreds of ways, very similar to Chlorine Dioxide. Sound familiar?
